| The Metal Men are a team of robot superheroes created by
writer Robert Kanigher, pencilled by
Ross Andru and inked by
Mike
Esposito for DC Comics in 1962. They made their first appearance in
Showcase #37--#40 as part of a four-issue series created as a
last-minute filler feature. They proved unexpectedly popular and the
characters were revived for more stories under their own title, and
had subsequent appearances in various series in the DC Universe. The
purpose of this site is to bring as much information regarding the
Metal Men together in one place as is possible. Each of the comics
will be reviewed with a
detailed story line with selected images from each episode as they
become available to me. Other sections sections of the site will
include information about their most famous
foes like the Gas Gang and
The Missile Men and information and screenshots regarding all of the Metal Men
Gold,
Platinum,
Lead,
Iron,
Mercury,
Tin and
Doc Magnus. To try and
complete of the story of the Metal Men there will also be a
background section featuring
other relevant information that comes along, information about
artists, story planners etc As an avid reader of the Metal Men as a youth, and lots of other comics in the DC range one of things that has stuck in my mind were the classic adverts they featured and to that end there is an advert section to the site featuring some of the gems from our past. One of the issues I face while creating this site is of of course placing up screenshots and due to the nature of the material crisp clear images are hard to come by which is why I went for a retro - simple layout for the site, however if anyone has any ideas or suggestions as to improvements that can be made please do not hesitate to get in touch.
